About Us
This project was initiated by and is part of a multi-city climate effort of the League of Women Voters of Seattle-King County. It is designed to align with the League’s mission:
"The League of Women Voters of Seattle-King County believes that sensible, responsible civil discourse and action based on substance rather than partisanship is essential for civic improvement and that we can help make democracy work through informed participation in government."
Who, Why & When
Mercer Island and King County have pledged to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 50% by 2030, and 80% by 2050.
How will we get there? Through mass civic engagement.
When cities reach beyond informing and educating the public, to involving, collaborating with, and empowering citizens, then we can reach our goals—because we’re making a difference, together.
Mercer Island’s Climate Action Guides aim to help the City reach these emissions goals by getting the community aware of these objectives and actively involved.
Our work is intended to feed into the development and implementation of a Climate Action Plan. Your local team stands ready and eager to guide your household, business, or organization.
